At a general Court Baron of David Harridge [illegible] of the said Manor holden in and for the said Manor on [illegible] day of December in the fforty second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord [George] the Third by the Grace of God of the United Kindom of Great Britain and Ireland and in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and one before [blank] Steward thereof.

At this Court it is presented by the said homage upon their oath that Thomas Cattel late of of [sic] the Customary or Copyhold Tenant of the said Manor died since the last court seized of certain customary premises holden of the Manor but who is the next heir they know not and because no one came to be admitted thereto the ffirst proclamation is three times publicly made and the first default

At a general Court Baron of David Harridge Gentleman Lord of the said Manor holden in and for the said Manor on Monday the fourth day of January in the forty second year of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and two before [blank] Steward there.

At this Court the second proclamation was three times pubicly made for the heir or heirs [of] Thomas Cattel late one of the Copyhold Tenants of this Manor to come into Court and be admitted to the Customary Premises of which the said Thomas Cattel died seized but none came therefore the second Default is recorded 

 

 

At a general Court Baron of David Harridge Gentleman Lord of the said Manor holden at Little Stambridge Hall in and for the said Manor on ffriday the twenty ninth day of January in the forty second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third and in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and two before [blank] Steward there

Homage – Before the Lord in person

Also at this Court the third proclamation was three times pubicly made for the heir of Thomas Cattel late one of the Copyhold Tenants of this Manor to come into Court and be admitted to the Customary Premises whereof the said Thomas Cattell lately died seized but none came therefore a Precept was issued directed to the Bailiff of the said Manor commanding him to enter upon all and singular the said premises whereof the said Thomas Cattell died seized and commanding him to seize the same into the hands of the Lord

And now at this Court the said Bailiff came in his proper person and said that by virtue of the Precept to him directed he entered into all that piece or parcel of customary Land containing by admeasurement one Acre Little more or less whereon a Tenement or building hath been lately erected and built called or known by the name or Sign of the Cherry Tree and whereupon divers other Tenements have been also lately erected and built and the said Bailiff also seized the said Premises into the hands of the Lord as by the same precept he was commanded. 

Also at this Court the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward granted unto Ann Cattell Widow and relict of the said Thomas Cattell deceased all that undivided moiety or half part in and to all that piece or parcel of Customary Land containing by admeasurement one Acre little more or less whereon a Tenement or Public House called or known by the name or sign of the Cherry Tree hath been some time since Erected and built and whereupon divers other Tenements have been lately Erected and built subject to and charged and chargable with the payment of the several sums of two hundred pounds and [illegible] pounds due and owing to [blank] upon Mortgage of the same Estate and premises And the said Ann Cattell being present in Court in her proper person prayed [illegible] of the said [illegible] whereupon the Lord by his said Steward granted seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Ann Cattell and her heirs charged and chargable as aforesaid by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the same rents customs and services as the said Premises have been heretofore held And the said Ann Cattell gave for a ffine as in the margin but her ffealty was respited

Afterwards the said Ann Cattell surrendered the said premises to the use of her Will
