The will of Sir James Bourchier 1635
In the name of God Amen I Sir James |
Bourchier of Little Stambridge in the County of Essex Knight being sick in bodie |
But of good and perfect remembrance Thanks bee given unto Allmightie god doe make | and ordeyne this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst I | give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmightie God and my bodie to bee buried | in Christian buriall And as for that estate of lands and goods which God hath lent unto mee I | give and bequeath in manner and forme following ffirst I give unto my sonne Richard | Bourchier my Mannor house of Little Stambridge Hall with all and singular houses edifices | and buildings (Except the old barne) and the orchards gardens and yards And also all that | parcel of pasture called the Cony ground the home field and the ffield adioyneing thereunto | now in the occupation of Willm Taynter Conteyneing by estimation ffortie acres more or lesse | And also all that field or Close called Rocheford field Conteyneing by estimation twentie | acres more or lesse now in the occupation of Alexander
Gowers to him and to his heires for ever All | which lands is parcell of the Mannor of Little Stambridge hall Item I give unto my two sonnes | William Bourchier and Oliver Bourchier all the rest of those lands also belonging to my saide | Mannor of Little Stambridge hall which are now in the occupation of the said Alexander |
Gowers That is to say Unto my sonne William Bourchier and to his heires Seaventeene | pounds a yeare and unto my sonne Oliver Bourchier and to his heires Twentie pounds a yeare | the said Lands to bee devyded betweene them according to the proportion aforesaid by two honest men | which shall bee chosen between them Item I give unto my sonne James Bourchier my Tenement | called {B.bbs} in Much Stambridge with the Lands to the said Tenement belonging to him and | to his heires Item I give unto my said sonne Richard Bourchier All those my Woodland grounds | lyeing and being in the Parish of Rocheford also belonging unto my said Mannor of Little | Stambridge hall to him and his heires for ever Item I give unto my said sonne Richard All | my goods Chattells Cattells household stuffe Plate and Jewells whatsoever whome I make my | sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament And I doe appoynt my loveing friend James | Nuttall of Rochford Gentleman to bee Gardian to my said sonnes Richard William and Oliver | Bourchier untill they Come unto their severall ages of one and Twentie yeares In wittness whereof | I have hereunto sett my hand and seal the fifth day of March Anno Domini one thousand sixe | hundred thirtie foure and in the Tenth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereign Lord Charles by the | grace of God king of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland defender of the ffaith etc Ja: Bourchier | Read sealed and published to bee the last Will and Testament of the said Sir James Bourchier in | the presence of Jo: Loane George Hench |
